About the Player
History: Kulak was exposed to
Shuffleboard early in his life at
the infamous Knob Hill courts in west Baltimore. A tandem bicycle
accident claimed the lives of
both of his parents, and Kulak moved to Los Angeles at age 9 to pursue a
life of organized crime.
At age 12, Kulak was arrested for murder, but his connections with the
L.A. police got him parole
after two years on the condition that he become a professional
shuffleboard player. He showed
an amazing natural talent for the game, and with intense late-night
training on Crenshaw Street,
he made his way into the top 150 players in the world by age 17. Kulak
has since moved back to
Baltimore, but he frequents his free shuffleboard clinic in south-central
L.A. to give the kids some
pointers.
1993 Season: Dragged down in doubles
play by
horrible parole officer teammate, exceled in singles play...rowdy and
unfocused, but extremely
talented...developed a bad reputation among referees
1994 Season: Not invited to
high-profile matches due
to attitude problems...calmed down...abandoned doubles play, focused on
singles
competition...acquires Dr. Strangeglove...finished season in top 100
1995 Season: Marked improvement in
play...developed deep lunge attack posture...suffered severe stick head
breakage, but plays on
with damaged equipment...much more focused, but still loud...experimented
with a variety of
doubles partners, considering re-entry into doubles scene...achieved
impressive doubles victroy
over (#1) Team OX with Mad Dog Cole...undefeated in singles play so
far...pollsters refuse to
award him much-deserved top 20 ranking due to history of crime and rowdy
on-court
demeanor...became well known for alarming puck velocity, possibly best in
the world...injured left glut in crucial match at season's close...could
this have been the year of the Shaft?
1996 Season: Remained at the SHNOG
compound in Beaufort NC while the rest of the SHNOG committee relocated
to Durham for recruiting and research...Practiced intesnely and took a
few young prospects under his glorious wing...started out the season with
an impressive Blitzkreig win over Javier Alvarez...set puck distance
record with an astounding 606 ft. blast...currently searching for a new
doubles partner...recovering slowly from torn glut...perhaps we have yet
to see the best this potential superstar can give.
